Michael Hieslmair - artist in-residence at [KSA: K] Center for Contemporary Art, Chisinau.

We are happy to announce that starting from 13th of April Michael Hieslmair from Austria
will spend 4 weeks in residence at [KSA: K] Center for Contemporary Art, Chisinau
as part of Black Sea Calling exchange program. Between 25th to 27th of April Michael
Hieslmair together with Michael Zinganel will organise a workshop titled - MAPPING
MOBILITIES. Nodes of Transitions and Encounters and at the end of his residence
Michael Hieslmair is going to present the results of his research period.

Michael Hieslmair is an artist and architect currently teaching at the Faculty of Architecture of the
University of Technology in Graz. He studied architecture at Graz University of Technology and at
Delft University of Technology. He has worked and exhibited on the impact of mobility, tourism and
cultural transfer on architecture and landscaping. Since 2005 he worked with Michael Zinganel on
urban and transnational mobility, contemporary mass tourism and migration: e.g. for Shrinking Cities
in 2005, Open Cities, the 4 th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam in 2009, at Ruhr.2010,
European Capital of Culture, and currently on a project on nodes of transformation at the PAN-
European traffic corridors around the Black Sea.

Black Sea Calling is a program of collaboration and exchange of artists between 9 art
institutions based in countries around the Black Sea (Art Today Association from
Plovdiv/Bulgaria, Center for Visual Introspection from Bucharest/Romania, [k:sak]
Center for Contemporary Art, Chisinau/Republic of Moldova, CCA - Center for
Contemporary Art from Kiev/Ukraine, n.n. from Russia, GeoAIR, Tbilisi/ Georgia, Cultural
Center of Mekhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex from Yerevan/Armenia, n.n. Baku/
Azerbajan, NOMAD from Istanbul/Turkey) and 5 art institutions from Austria (Graz /
< rotor > [project coordinator] in collaboration with CCN Graz Krems / AIR Krems Linz
/ Atelierhaus Salzamt Innsbruck / Kunstlerhaus Buchsenhausen Vienna / Kunsthalle
